ZonMw plans to open a subsidy call within the PharmaNL Shared Development Infrastructure program, focusing on establishing infrastructure facilities for pharmaceutical products and drug technologies for shared use by pharmaceutical startups, scale-ups, and academic research groups.
Program Objective and Subsidy Round
This subsidy call is part of the PharmaNL Shared Development Infrastructure (SDI) program line. This initiative aims to set up advanced infrastructures (such as laboratory equipment) for shared use by pharmaceutical startups, scale-ups, and academic research groups. Developing such infrastructure is crucial for strengthening the pharmaceutical value chain, as essential R&D facilities and services are currently insufficiently available.
The funded projects will contribute to the expansion and enhancement of pharmaceutical hubs, knowledge institutions, and enterprises with future-proof equipment. This, in turn, will lead to more efficient and effective development of new medicines and production technologies, shorter lead times, and lower costs in the pharmaceutical sector.
This subsidy call aims to address specific themes outlined in the PharmaNL Shared Development Infrastructure investment agenda. This agenda serves as a roadmap for investments aimed at strengthening the Dutch pharmaceutical value chain.
Target Audience
The subsidy is available to Dutch companies, research institutions, and knowledge organizations looking to establish or upgrade shared pharmaceutical infrastructure. Applications may be submitted individually or collaboratively as part of a consortium.
Subsidy Details
The subsidy is intended for the construction and/or upgrading of infrastructure facilities for the development, scaling, and production of innovative medicines in the Netherlands. A key requirement is that the infrastructure facilities must be made available for shared use by startups, scale-ups, and academic research groups for at least 50% of the available time at a market-compliant price.
Each project can apply for a maximum subsidy of €5 million, with a maximum project duration of four years. The total available subsidy budget for this round is €24 million.
Process and Preliminary Timeline
This subsidy round consists of a project idea phase and a full proposal phase. A project idea is a concise version of a full proposal. During the project idea phase, the program committee assesses the ideas based on relevance and overall quality. The committee selects the most promising projects that align with the subsidy objectives, and these applicants receive advice on developing a full subsidy application.
A detailed overview of the application steps can be found on this webpage.
