PharmaNL Presents Investment Agenda: Roadmap for a Stronger Pharmaceutical Future

News August 22, 2024

PharmaNL today publishes the PharmaNL Investment Agenda, a roadmap for targeted investments in educational opportunities to strengthen the Dutch pharmaceutical value chain. Based on a gap analysis and expert session, the Investment Agenda identifies key themes for future grant calls under the PharmaNL program. The next grant call will focus on the new funding round for the Human Capital Growth program line of PharmaNL, scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2024 by ZonMw.

Brigitte Drees, board member and lead of PharmaNL, stated: “With this agenda, we enhance the pharmaceutical value chain and ensure effective use of resources from the National Growth Fund.”

Prioritization

The Investment Agenda introduces a modular “house” that serves as the foundation for upcoming grant calls for both program lines, ensuring appropriate prioritization. PharmaNL’s first program line, Human Capital Growth, focuses on lifelong learning with flexible training tailored to professionals. Approximately €7 million will be available for 10-20 projects in 2024.

The next funding round for this program line will be opened by ZonMw in the fourth quarter of 2024. The funding round for PharmaNL’s second program line, Shared Development Infrastructure, is expected to open in the first quarter of 2025.

Strategic Recommendations

PharmaNL sees significant growth opportunities in automation of production processes, small scale manufacturing, innovative drug delivery methods, advanced therapies, imaging and screening technology, digitalization, and AI utilization in the pharmaceutical sector.

Drees comments: “We urge companies to invest in education that addresses these themes, accelerating this transition. The upcoming grant round for the Human Capital Growth program line presents an excellent opportunity for this. Based on the conducted gap analysis and expert meeting, a wide range of themes has been prioritized and generously funded,” added Drees. “We are eager to assist interested companies and educational institutions with their grant applications through the Investment Agenda.”
