News September 2, 2026 Good news: on Tuesday, September 1, ZonMw opened the final funding round within the PharmaNL Shared Development Infrastructure (SDI) programme line. This programme line focuses on strengthening the infrastructure for the development, scaling up and production of (innovative) medicines in the Netherlands.
This call addresses the themes identified in the revised 2026 SDI Investment Agenda of PharmaNL.
PharmaNL is a national public-private consortium that received funding from the National Growth Fund (NGF) in 2022. Among other things, PharmaNL aims to invest in shared infrastructure for medicine development and production, to be used by pharmaceutical start-ups, scale-ups and academic research groups.
Public-law or private-law legal entities established in the Netherlands can apply for funding. This funding call is aimed at Dutch companies, research organisations and knowledge institutions that want to establish and/or upgrade shared pharmaceutical infrastructure.
The PharmaNL Shared Development Infrastructure (SDI) programme line aims to build and/or upgrade infrastructure facilities for the development, scaling up and production of (innovative) medicines in the Netherlands. Funding applications must address the prioritised themes identified in PharmaNL’s revised SDI Investment Agenda (see Part III).
A condition is that the infrastructure facilities are made available for shared use by start-ups, scale-ups and academic research groups for at least 50% of the available time, at a market-based rate.
The total available budget for this funding round is €23.3 million. A maximum of €5 million in funding can be requested per application, with projects running until the end of June 2030 at the latest. Co-financing of 50% of the total project costs is mandatory.
